Minister orders timely completion of social protection programs

LAHORE: Provincial Minister of Housing, Urban Development and Public Health Engineering Mian Aslam Iqbal chaired a meeting and reviewed on Monday the implementation of the department’s ongoing programs within the Department of Housing .

The Housing Secretary and Head of Development Authority briefed the Minister on the progress of the plans. The provincial minister ordered relevant officers to work day and night on public welfare projects to complete them quickly. He further ordered the authorities to put in place an efficient and better system for delivering services to the people. He said that the new housing program in Pakistan is a project to give shelter to the homeless. Ravi City is being built to meet the residential needs of millions of people. These projects of public interest must be carried out at a rapid pace.

The provincial housing minister said the maintenance projects for the roads into and out of the provincial capital are of great importance. Better road infrastructure saves fuel, reduces air pollution and improves traffic flow, so there is no room for laziness and delays in these projects. He said Wasa should speed up its projects to provide clean drinking water to citizens. Housing Secretary Shakeel Ahmed, Special Secretary, MD Wasa, Chief Public Health Engineers North and South, LDA and PHA Officers attended the meeting.
